42nd Street is the song and dance, American dream fable of Broadway. Young Peggy Sawyer is from small-town America and just another face in the chorus line on Broadway’s newest show. But when the leading lady gets injured, Peggy might just have the shot at stardom she’s always dreamed of… Grammy Award-winner Sheena Easton joins an all singing, high-kicking cast as Dorothy Brock with Tom Lister as Julian Marsh and Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer.
Date: Opened Tuesday 29th March
Location: South Kensington
Claude Bosi has joined forces with Sir Terence Conran and launched a new restaurant at Bibendum in Michelin House, after a full refurbishment of the distinctive building. The fine dining menu showcases Claude’s contemporary and light-hearted flair, known from his Mayfair restaurant, Hibiscus. New dishes include, oyster omelette watercress and Oscietra caviar and Galician beef filet ‘a la Ficelle’ smoked eels, beef jam and leaves. Sharing dishes include dover sole farcie and roast chicken with sides that rotate with the seasons. Visit at the weekend for a lunch carvery where meats are served from the carving trolley and, talking of trolleys, there is a specially designed Art Deco dessert and ice-cream trolley – always the best kind – where you’ll find îles flottantes, Paris Brest, eclairs and trifle.
Dates: Easter Weekend
Reports are expecting this Easter weekend to be hotter than usual and bookies have reduced the odds on it being named the hottest on record. In 2011 over the Easter weekend temperatures reached 27.8C and weather sources are predicting it to be hotter this year after the recent 20C temperature recorded on Mother’s Day. A spokesman for The Weather Channel said: “Temperatures will remain well above average as Britain bakes in a mini-heatwave that is set to last until the Easter holiday period.”
